This book started off a little slow for me, I lost interested in it and let it sit there after reading a few pages. Ultimately, I decided to give it another try and pushed on.. but once you get past the first few chapters, you will get extremely into it and you will not want to put it down. The plot twist is somewhat obvious but can't quite figure out how it all works out until the end.

It starts off by explaining two out of the four major characters (with a few key characters in between) Gabriel, a fashion photographer who is with Alicia, a painter. Gabriel is found mysteriously dead and his girlfriend Alicia is to blame for it as she is the only one at the scene of the crime. When questioned by police and on trial for murder she remains mute. She is admitted into a psychiatric ward 'The Grove'.

This is when we are introduced to our next two major characters Theo Faber, a psychotherapist and his wife Kathy, an actress. Theo gets wind of Alicia being admitted to 'The Grove' and decides to transfer to "help" Alicia and find out what really happened that night her boyfriend died.

As the book goes on you learn a few key aspects about Alicia:

• When she was younger her mother commits suicide involving Alicia

• Her Aunt Lydia helps raises her

• She has an unsure relationship with her father

• A self portrait she painted named 'ALCETIS' (a greek mythology story) plays a major point throughout the whole book

• Alicia keeps a diary (also plays a major point throughout the book)

With these key aspects Theo begins therapy sessions and starts to dig into Alicia's life by visiting her family and friends are begins to unravel who and why Alicia is who she is today. All while helping his patient you learn that his own relationship is declining with infidelity and trust issues.

As the story line continues you are taken through a web of confusion, lies, and deceit.

If what I've said so far hasn't made you run to your nearest book store or open a new tab searching for the book then maybe this isn't the book for you. I have already gone into too much detail, and if I continue well then I will be giving away ALL the juicy details.
